Bahraini Teachers Laid Off After Protesting

In the wake of the BICI Report, Bahrain promised reforms and the end of arrests. None of this has been seen on the ground. In one of the most disturbing examples thus far of a wrongful exercise of power, teachers were laid off on December 7th for their role in the protests that have swept across Bahrain. Teachers were said to be “disrupting the educational system” by protesting and therefore were laid off from their jobs. This will only further contribute to the civil unrest in Bahrain and will prove one more point of contention in Washington against the regime.
